How VANDLANDINGHAM & Co came to Be……
I’ll never forget the day I tore the carpet out of my bedroom at 11 years old, uncovering the beautiful hardwood floors beneath. My mom? Let’s just say she wasn’t as thrilled with my discovery as I was. But she let me have free rein in that room for the next seven years, rearranging and redecorating to my heart’s content.
Maybe it was growing up surrounded by the furniture market, or maybe it’s just in my DNA, but my love for interiors has always been a part of me. After studying Interior Design in college, I pressed pause to (halfway) raise four kids. In recent years, I’ve been lucky enough to design spaces for family and friends, and eventually took the leap into full-time design. That leap made a lifelong dream come true: VanLandingham & Co.
The name VanLandingham? It’s my maiden name, and it felt right to bring it back after swapping it out for my married name (love you, babe!). I mean, losing the name you’ve known your whole life is a little strange, isn’t it? My grandfather used to joke:
“The Van is Dutch, the Land is English, the Ing is Chinese, and the ham’s the best part of the hog.”
Turns out, I come from a long line of creatives. One relative was even an interior designer here in Raleigh, working under the name Interiors by Van out of his office in Oakwood. He was such a unique visionary, and I’m honored to carry on his legacy.
Whether it’s traditional, modern, or a mix of the two, I’m all in—especially when it’s got a unique, personal vibe. I’ve dabbled in pretty much every style over the years, and nothing makes me happier than layering old with new, playing with textures and colors, and finding those one-of-a-kind pieces. Being an Enneagram 4 has its perks—it’s all about creating spaces that are distinctive, meaningful, and completely yours.
